Our Focus
Consistent with the Healthy People 2000 initiatives, we have targeted medical conditions and developed HealthMax medical wellness programs to decrease the overall cohort risk and subsequent claims cost to insurance companies. Our professional approach of integrated conventional and complimentary health care are documented to decrease overall risk and improve health and wellness.
Americans want more control, greater choice and improved access to high quality health care, including complimentary and alternative care medicines. A 1997 survey showed that 42% of U.S. adults use alternative treatments, that visits to alternative practitioners exceed visits to primary care physicians, that only 38% of patients disclose their alternative treatments to their physician, and that 18% of all prescription drug users concurrently used herbal remedies or high-dose vitamins (JAMA 1998;280:1569-1575). Another national survey showed 68% of households are using nutritional supplements. We feel it is critical to provide user-friendly information and quality products that help members make informed health care choices when seeking the benefits of integrated care. Our focus on nutrition, exercise and weight control is designed to support the 99% of Americans that do not consume diets meeting the USDA’s five food-group recommendations, and the 55% of adults and 20% of children who are overweight. Scientific studies continue to show the significant influences of nutrition and weight on health and disease prevention.
Our objective is to provide the best of the best in online healthcare information, products and services. Up to a third of all internet users actively seek health and medical information online, and this number is growing by 70 percent annually, according to research by ING Baring Furman Setz LLC. We feel it is prudent to partner with health plans to provide a credible source for quality health care resources, so your members don’t rely on sites of unknown quality elsewhere. At a conference held on October 27, 1998, former Surgeon General C. Most of our features can be individually selected as component "add-ons" and customized to fit the individualized needs of our customers. A multitude of special parameters can be customized such as corporate logos, emphasis on particular disease entities, e-commerce, educational programs and market hot spots to name a few. Avicom, Inc. hosts the HealthMax site and provides all the cutting edge programming, security, database, archive, design and technical aspects of the site. Avicom currently authors hundreds of some of the best sites on the internet and has received multiple awards. In addition to the technical aspects of the site, Avicom owns one of the largest medical search engines on the internet which will be a basic component of the customized website. MedGuide allows users to easily access medical related information in a keyword search format. Artificial intelligence programmers, relational database experts and information technology experts are integrated at every step of design through implementation to assure the technical aspects are considered and implemented.
One of the best animators and graphics design artists in the country, James Coffin, CEO of Vedanta Graphics and James Coffin Film Productions, heads the artistic design arena of HealthMax. His original artwork and animation skills make the educational programs and informational resources unique to HealthMax Incorporated and serve to further set us apart from the competition.
Our editorial resources are headed by Paul Perry, a seasoned author with several New York Times best sellers. In addition to his literary skills, Paul brings access to the publishing industry in several formats. Reid Parsley, published author and CEO of Penultimate Publishers, is also a key figure in program development across all age groups. Steve Kaye, MD, nephew of the late Nathan Pritikan, MD, is one of the program and product developers specializes in weight management, diabetes, balance and fall prevention and anti-aging medicine. Steve is a practicing family physician and heads a biotech company with several products in the final stage development and FDA approval.
